Licensing & platforms

Free and paid exports, platform requirements, network use and updates.

Desktop account and licence

CoAnimator 0.7.2 does not require a CoAnimator account to use the editor. Activate a paid key in Settings → License. Agent providers and plugins have their own sign-ins or API keys, independent of your CoAnimator licence.

Local exports are not metered by CoAnimator credits. AI and plugin services may charge separately. Settings shows licence and device status; use the licence management link to manage your devices. Update entitlement and the validity of an installed licence are separate fields.

Offline use and network access

Editing local files and rendering prepared projects run on your machine. A successfully validated paid licence has a 14-day offline grace period. If it expires without successful validation, exports fall back to Free limits; the app does not lock your projects. Reconnect and refresh the licence to restore eligible paid features.

AI requests, plugin APIs, publishing, template/model downloads, licence checks and updates use the network. Images, video frames and files supplied to an agent or service may be sent to that provider. Local rendering is not a guarantee that every workflow keeps all media on your computer.

Credentials are stored separately from chat histories and project packages. Protection varies by connection and platform; 0.7.2 can fall back to unencrypted local storage when OS encryption is unavailable. Credential encryption is not an unconditional guarantee.

Platforms and prerequisites

CoAnimator ships Windows, macOS and Linux builds. macOS requires 13 or later. Rendering requires FFmpeg and FFprobe. The packaged CLI includes its runtime and does not require a separate Node/npm installation.

AppImage supports in-app Linux updates; DEB users download and install the offered newer package. Headless rendering also needs a display server such as xvfb-run. See CLI.

Updates and troubleshooting

Settings → General shows the installed version and build badge. View updates opens update controls. The installed build and selected Stable/Beta feed are separate: changing feeds does not immediately replace or downgrade the app.

Finish or stop active work before restarting for an update. CoAnimator saves pending edits and package changes before handing off to the installer. If saving fails, resolve the error and retry. After updating, open the app once to refresh managed CLI/skill installations, then start a new agent session.

For a problem report, include the app version, operating system, the action that failed and its error or export log. Settings also contains the usage/error-reporting preference.
