Exporting video

Choose size, frame rate, quality, ranges and engines, and recover from failed renders.

Open a project and choose Export. Project exports produce MP4 locally. CoAnimator 0.7.2 offers the same rendering choices through the CLI.

Choose the output

SettingWhat it changes
Resolution720p, 1080p or 4K short side, preserving the project's aspect ratio
Frame rateFrames per second; Custom accepts 1–240, including fractional rates
QualityLow, Standard, High or Max compression quality, independent of resolution/FPS
Duration rangeFull timeline, In–Out or a custom section

Free exports use 720p and a watermark. A valid paid licence unlocks higher resolutions and removes the watermark. Initial FPS follows the timeline; export settings do not rewrite its frame rate. Use recommended restores recommended settings and Standard while keeping the timeline and range.

For a partial export of another timeline, open it in the editor first. The size estimate is approximate and does not predict rendering time.

Advanced settings

Leave workers on Auto unless you have a reason to change them. The app estimates capacity from your system and other export work. More workers need more memory and can be slower on some scenes.

All three engines are available on Windows, macOS and Linux in 0.7.2:

  • Standard is the default.
  • Single-pass is an optional preview using one worker.
  • Experimental 1 is an optional preview using parallel capture.

If an export fails

The app validates the finished video before replacing the destination. A recoverable failure retries once using Standard, one worker and software encoding. Storage and permission errors require fixing their cause. Cancelling stops the job without retrying; an existing output file is preserved.

For missing files or timeline errors, review Timeline Health, relink media or apply the offered safe repairs. If the export still fails, use Copy log and include the app version and operating system in your report.

Other formats and publishing

Standalone tools provide GIF/WebP/APNG, audio conversion and caption files. To publish an MP4, connect the YouTube plugin, then use Publish to YouTube in the Export dropdown.
